Review by proofrock ★★½ 1
My first Van Ackeren is this broad German equivalent of a 9 1/2 Weeks-style commercial eros, and a rotten romance with this terrible looking doctor named Max (Horst Günter Marx), who is horny on main almost to Fassbender/Shame levels of behavior. Max dials a wrong number and speaks to a woman he doesn’t know, so he makes it his mission to find her and fuck. At one point he runs up on an apartment building, hits every button on the intercom and announces to all the women that live there that he is downstairs and hard, and someone actually lets him in. Right before this, the movie almost turns intoCrash as he stages an auto accident to get the attention…

Review by Dirk Senger ★★½

Review by megazord ★★★★

Review by Margaret and David - At The Movies ★★½
MARGARET: ★★½
DAVID: ★★½Reviewed on The Movie Show, SBS, 1989. Review by David Stratton.
Do you sometimes get the feeling that isn't as much sex in films as there used to be? Well, THE VENUS TRAP will fix all that; it's got sex to spare. It hasn't got much else, but it has got sex, and beautiful people who wear beautiful clothes - at least some of the time.
The film is the latest from German director Robert van Ackeren who made A WOMAN IN FLAMES, and it's about a young Berlin Doctor (played by Horst-Günter Marx) who isn’t satisfied with his beautiful girlfriend (She's played by the spectacular Sonja Kirchberger), and you'd think she'd be enough to satisfy…

Review by Richard Doyle ★★½
Horst Günter Marx is a doctor who wanders around nocturnal Berlin picking up women. He seems to have an ungodly power of attraction and women fall for him at the slightest suggestion. He's in love with Myriem Roussel, who he has only talked to on the phone when he dialed her by accident. He tracks her down and naturally they sleep together, but she is uninterested in a relationship since she's married to Hanns Zischler, who is surprisingly cool with the situation. Marx is engaged to Sonja Kirchberger, who is not that surprisingly jealous of his many many sexual relationships and she tries to win him back mainly by removing her clothes frequently.
This is a weird film. It kind…

highly watchable, ridiculous, subversive melodrama/comedy, everything is incredibly outlandish yet played completely straight making it all very funny
